Course:  Exploring Pastel

Day and Time: Tuesdays 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm
First Class February 26 - 6 weeks

Class Fee:  $50 

Anticipated Materials Fee:  Approximately $45 for first time art students.  See list below.

This is an introductory course for beginners or a ‘brush up” class for intermediates who want to get back into pastels again.  We will cover techniques and proper strokes for applying pastels  Students are free to indulge in different styles and may choose their own subject matter. 

Class Pre-requisites: None

Supply List   (items can be ordered from Dick Blick online (www.dickblick.com) or by phone 800-828-4548.  Blick’s item #s are noted below) or at local art supply stores - Zephyrs in Brattleboro, the Framery in Bellows Falls, or Michael’s in Rutland or Keene.  (These stores may not have all the listed supplies)  An online order from Dick Blick’s usually takes around 5 – 7 days to receive. You should wait until the class is confirmed before ordering supplies.

A piece of plywood, masonite or other sturdy flat surface to be used as a drawing board (size should be at least 14 x 18).  Also bring several sheets of newspaper to use as padding for your drawing board.

Please bring your art supplies and a piece of fruit or a picture of a piece of fruit to practice pastel strokes and some color theory during the first class.

LOUISE MAX has an Associates Degree in Design and Illustration and has worked in graphic design and currently creates artwork for licensing and posters as well as galleries.  She has illustrated four published books.
